If you have something on your computer screen that you want as a jpg or graphic, to print or insert into a document you can take a screen shot.
To capture the entire screen, press Command+Shift+3.
To capture part of a screen, press Command+Shift+4 The cursor will then turn into a cross-hairs icon. Click and drag over an area to select it. When you release the mouse button, the image is taken, and you'll hear a snapshot sound.
The pictures you take will save to your desktop and open in Preview. They will be named Picture 1, Picture 2, and so on.
